Enhanced xinetd Access Restrictions

Mandrake and Red Hat have abandoned inetd in favor of xinetd (pronounced "zi-net-dee"). This fact has changed the nature of access restrictions in these distributions compared to other distributions. Specifically, although it's possible to use TCP Wrappers with xinetd, doing so is not common. Instead, xinetd provides its own access control tools, many of which are very similar to those provided by TCP Wrappers. If you want to use these controls instead of or in addition to those provided by TCP Wrappers, you can replace inetd with xinetd even on distributions that use inetd by default.
