Mastering KDE

KDE is a mature desktop environment that's roughly comparable to desktop environments from Microsoft or Apple in overall functionality. As I write, the current version is 3.1. Using KDE requires knowing something about its basic features, but as KDE is modeled after other desktop environments, chances are you won't find any major surprises in its general use. Nonetheless, it's helpful to know how to perform certain specific tasks in KDE, such as managing files, changing the look and feel of the environment, using core KDE applications, and configuring new ways to launch programs.
