Using Card Specific Optimizations

Chances are your distribution configured X well enough to run with your hardware when you installed it. If not, or if the configuration works but doesn't work as well as you'd like, you may need to tweak the XF86Config file, either directly or using a configuration tool. This section covers some of the configuration tools that are available as well as two types of tweaks you may need to make: changing the video card driver and activating 3D acceleration features. The next section, "Creating a Custom Video Mode," covers a more extensive tweak you may want to try.
