You can manage a SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 server in two ways: from the command line or from YaST. YaST is the management utility that is used on all versions of SUSE Linux. Using YaST, you can perform most common system administration tasks. However, you should be aware that you can perform certain advanced system administration tasks only from the command line. Chapter 4 introduces how to work from the command line. In this chapter, you will learn how to work with the YaST administration tool.
In this chapter, I'll cover the following topics:
• YaST options: You'll learn about the options offered from the YaST interface.
• YaST and its configuration files: When making a modification in YaST, some information is written to its configuration files. This section describes how that works.
• YaST modularity: YaST is modular. You'll learn how to work with YaST modules.
