A relatively new feature in Network Manager is the ability to manage wireless broadband modem cards. These cards allow you to connect to wireless Internet providers, much like a cell phone connects to a provider. You can have Internet access anywhere you can get a cell phone signal.
Most wireless broadband cards plug into the USB port on your workstation. Ubuntu will detect the card and start the Network Manager. The Network Manager uses a wizard to guide you through the steps in configuring your wireless broadband card.
